Today, August 20, 2026, the Mongolian Stock Exchange (MSE) organized a discussion titled “Green Bonds: Financing Opportunities for Combating Desertification” as part of the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

The discussion was moderated by B. Khaliun, Senior Manager of Business Development and Projects at the Sustainable Finance Association (ToC Association). Panelists included B. Dulguun, Director of the Securities Department of the Financial Regulatory Commission; D. Munkhbat, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Mongolian Stock Exchange; B. Erdenedelger, First Deputy CEO of Khan Bank, which has issued bonds on the public capital market; and Undral, CEO of MGL Aqua JSC.

The panelists openly discussed the current state and future outlook of the green bond market, regulatory policies and frameworks, and practical experiences in issuing securities, while providing interested individuals and businesses with information on the requirements and considerations for issuing green bonds.
The discussion successfully brought together relevant stakeholders with the objective of strengthening knowledge and awareness among potential green bond issuers, supporting the development of the green bond market, promoting the use of green bonds to finance initiatives addressing desertification and environmental sustainability, and strengthening cooperation among the public sector, private sector, financial institutions, and development partners.
